The world congratulates Georgia on Independence Day

On May 26 Georgia marked the 101st anniversary of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917.
On this important day, Georgia received congratulations and kind wishes from foreign diplomats and its friend states.
Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, also congratulated Georgia on its Independence Day.
“It gives me a great pleasure to send to Your Excellency my congratulations on the celebration of your National Day, together with my best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Georgia in the coming year,” reads the letter of congratulations. In addition, British Ambassador to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith took to Twitter to congratulate Georgia.
Two days before May 26, US President Donald Trump sent the letter of congratulations to the Georgian Prime Minister, underlining the partnership between the two countries and strong support for Georgia's territorial integrity.
US Embassy to Tbilisi also made a statement regarding the important day in Georgia’s history.
EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell congratulates Georgia on its Independence Day. He visited Tbilisi, where the Act of Independence was adopted and congratulated Georgian citizens.
“I am here today, at the Youth Palace, where Georgia’s National Council adopted the Independence Day on May 26, 1918. Ideological debates, a progressive constitution and the active involvement of women leaders are a testimony to freedom-loving nations with the right vision. European nations recognized Georgia’s independence then, and they, with the European Union, stand with Georgia more strongly today than ever,” he said in his video address.
“Our dear friends in Georgia, happy Independence Day! Estonia is and will always be your close friend and strong ally,” the statement of the Estonian Foreign Ministry reads.
Also, in the congratulation statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics sent “warm congratulations and best wishes” to Georgians.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius posted his congratulations message on Twitter account in English and in Georgian languages, which reads that Georgia will always have a very special place in the hearts of Lithuanians. “Happy independence day! Lithuania celebrates together!”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Romania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, and other countries also congratulated Georgia.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.
Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan tweeted his congratulations in Georgian.
“I congratulate our friendly Georgian people with the national holiday of Georgia - the day of restoration of independence! I am sure that the current high-level relationship between Armenia and Georgia will serve the interests of our people in the future too,” the tweet reads.
