Georgian National Museum presents solo exhibition “Zero” by Georgian artist Vakho Bughadze. The exhibition was opened on June 4 and will be available until July 4 at Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery.
Born in 1964, Vakho Bughadze graduated from faculties of Applied Arts and Sculpture at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.
Since 2001, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Tbilisi, Batumi, Vilnius, London, etc.
Over the years, his work has been showcased at personal exhibitions in Georgia and as a part of various sculpture symposiums in Europe.
Bughadze organized an exhibition ‘Aleppo’ in Batumi this year.
“The process of painting from September 2017 till May 2019 was based entirely on the ‘unpredictable’. These unforeseen contingencies were preconditioned by the method and the paints (watercolors) applied in the process. It was impossible to see the result as soon as I finished work. Only the next day I was able to observe the picture thoroughly.
I didn’t know how it would dry in twenty-four hours, what surprises the water applied lavishly in paints would offer. In a way, my state resembled the state of a person who is looking forward to an important telephone call in the morning... Every other day started with the same expectation, and from the same point – Zero,” said Vakho Bugadze about the paintings featured in the exhibition.
The Georgian National Museum, unifying several leading museums in Georgia, was established within the framework of structural, institutional, and legal reforms aimed at modernizing the management of the institutions united within this network, and at coordinating research and educational activities.
It actively continues the promotion of Georgian artists, as well as the culture, art and history of Georgia and other countries.
