Workshop on Media Literacy

The workshop on Media Literacy, organized by the Council of Europe and the Communications Commission, took place in Tbilisi.

According to the Georgian National Communications Commission, such large scale meeting was held for the first time in the field of media education. The event was attended by special guests - Ireland National Coordinator - Martina Chapman.

The Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) has the authority to develop media education in Georgia.

The goal of the project is to support the freedom of media and the internet in Georgia. The workshop is implemented within the framework of the project "Promoting Media and Internet Freedom in Georgia." One of the objectives of the project is to foster multi-stakeholder dialogue and discussion on issues of Internet freedoms in Georgia.

Media literacy encompasses the practices that allow people to access, critically evaluate, and create media.



Registration opens for EaP Conference on Promoting Common Values through Education and Culture

European Commission is organizing an Eastern Partnership (EaP) conference in the Tbilisi.

On June 25-26, the event will focus on promoting common values through education and culture.

The main goal of the conference is to address issues related to democratization, citizenship, integrity, and inclusiveness of education, media literacy, and intercultural dialogue.

It will also foster dialogue and cooperation between the European Union and the EaP region.

The conference will mark an important step towards the realization of the Eastern Partnership 20 Deliverables for 2020 in the areas of education, youth and culture.

The participants shall complete the online registration form by 15 June 2019.

The meeting will be held in English at the Holiday Inn Tbilisi.

Inclusive Education, Social Cohesion and Gender, Role of Teachers in Promoting Common Values, Role of Culture in Fostering Common Values, and many others are among the topics to be discussed in the sessions.
