Mayor Kaladze presents youth projects in the capital

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze presented already implemented and planned youth projects to the youth residing in the capital. The presentation took place on June 8, and it focused on increasing the role of the youth in the decision making processes in Tbilisi.
According to Kaladze, the City Hall has a desire to implement the planned projects with the active involvement of young people.
"Generally your role in the development of the country, the advancement of the city is vital. We always think what we can do to increase your engagement in these processes," he said.
The mayor said that the Prime Minister of Georgia would present a new concept in regard to projects for the youth in a few weeks, in which the government of the capital will be also involved.
We have planned to make Tbilisi the most beautiful, comfortable, and safe city. I hope you will also want to be involved in this," said Kakha Kaladze.
The youth projects and programs were presented by Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Sofio Khuntsaria and Head of Culture, Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs Department Irakli Gvilava.
At the presentation, Deputy Mayor emphasized the important novelty on the Tbilisi Lab project, which envisages the creation of professional laboratories in Tbilisi.
"There will be 10 interesting spaces in the 10 regions of the capital, where the thematic and creative spaces will be arranged for young people. Each lab will have a mentor. The directions will be architecture, digital technologies, ecology, design, and art. Also, it will function as a consultation area, because many young people want to go abroad, get an education and we will get information about these topics," she said.
Khuntsaria also spoke about the paid internship program for students, which will be launched in the nearest future.
"During the summer we will sign a memorandum with different universities. 100 best students will be chosen and they will get paid professional practice in the agencies of the City Hall," she said.
Deputy Mayor announced that a youth village will be built in Kojori.
"There is another novelty for young people residing in Tbilisi. From September Tbilisi will join the European Student Card Network, which offers benefits to students at a number of facilities," she added.
In addition, Irakli Gvilava talked about the possibility of conducting lectures, master classes, and workshops in Tbilisi by the specialists which will be free for students.
He noted that after the accreditation of youth centers under the City Hall, Tbilisi will be able to receive foreign volunteers and Georgian youth will be able to travel to different European countries.
The parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze noted in his speech that the Government develops a certain plan in education direction envisaging better opportunities of the youth for self-realization.
"I would like to thank Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze for new initiatives. We shall give the youth better opportunities for self-realization, and it is the top priority for the country and the Government. The youth possess the greatest potential, and it shall give certain outcomes," he said.
The youth policy aims at the creation of the educational platforms and facilitation of youth in self-realization, provision of engagement in urban development and co-participation in the decision-making process.
