Turtle Lake Ropeway to temporarily stop working from July 18

Due to urgent technical work, the Turtle Lake Cable Car will suspend working from July 18 to ensure the safety of the passengers, and it is planned to change and renew the ropeway completely.

According to the Tbilisi City Hall’s transportation company, as a result of the scheduled inspection, its complete replacement has been planned, according to “Technical Regulations on Safe Operation of Cable Car (Funicular Road, Funicular).”

It is worth mentioning that 1.1 million GEL will be allocated on the restoration of the Ropeway Station three years ago. The renewed two cable cars have been transporting Tbilisi residents and its visitors from Chavchavadze Avenue to the Turtle Lake in 6 minutes since 2016. The capacity of each cable car was 10-12 individuals including one conductor; gondolas and stations were also accessible for people with disabilities.

Three years ago, the repair works were carried out by the company “Bagirmsheni,” which won the tender.



One more McDonald’s to be opened on Kakheti highway in 2020

Fast food giant, McDonald’s is scheduled to open in 2020 on Kakheti highway. Under the decree of July 2 by Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze 7001 square meter area on Kakheti highway was transferred to Temur Chkonia’s company for 761 500 GEL.

According to the decree, the company “T and K restaurants” is obliged to cover this amount within 30 days and build a McDonald’s in one year. Under the privatization agreement, the company also undertakes an obligation to invest 6 million GEL.

Kakheti Highway is a strategic road because almost every visitor enters the capital in this way.

McDonald’s Georgia franchise is owned by Temur Chkonia, Georgian businessmen and head of Coca Cola Bottlers Georgia.

The number of McDonald’s restaurant has increased during the last few years. More than nine restaurants are operating in Georgia, including the ones in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, and Batumi.
