Georgian PM congratulates Ukrainians on conducting successful elections

The Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze congratulates Ukrainian people on holding free and fair parliamentary elections.

As the premier notes in his post on Twitter, he believes that successful elections in Ukraine will promote democracy, reform, and progress in EU integration.

“Congratulations to the people of #Ukraine on holding free & fair elections! I strongly believe that successful elections will further advance Ukraine’s democracy, reforms & progress on #EU integration path as well as strengthen ties between our friendly nations,” reads Bakhtadze’s post on Twitter.

Snap elections to the Ukrainian parliament were held on 21 July 2019. Originally scheduled to be held at the end of October, these elections were brought forward after new President Volodymyr Zelensky dissolved parliament on 21 May 2019.



TSU archaeological expedition discovered unique building on Grakliani

According to the Tbilisi State University, the archeological expedition on the Grakliani Hill discovered unique building of the 5th century BC.

According to the university, this is the first time that the monument of this period is preserved entirely and gives the opportunity to create a perfect presentation of the life of that era.

“A big altar is located in the center, the oven is located in the stage room where the vessels are placed for transferring the fire for priests, and there also is a device for grinding medicinal plants,” reported the university.

Along with TSU students, 15 students from Oxford University and London University College participated in the excavation. TSU Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze visited the location and excavations while meeting the students.

Archaeologists of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University began excavation in Shida Kartli, on the Grakliani hill in 2008, where TSU students have been established as a field practice base

Grakliani Hill, an archaeological excavation site in Eastern Georgia near Kaspi, shows the evidence of human presence possibly going back 300,000 years. The site was discovered in 2007.
