President joins #SpendYourSummerInGeorgia campaign

The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili joined the campaign Spend Your Summer in Georgia. In her first video, President introduced Batumi to tourists from the highest point of the Black Sea. As she said, “Batumi is one of the unique places where culture meets beauty.”

With another video, published a few days ago, Zourabichvili addressed tourists from Vashlovani Park. In her address, she talked about the uniqueness of the place and encouraged tourists to visit Georgia.

Spend Your Summer in Georgia is a campaign which began after Putin banned all the flights between Russia and Georgia. Georgian activists created a Facebook group Spend Your Summer In Georgia, where people write about their experiences of traveling in Georgia to support local tourism.



1373 people detained at a rally for fair elections in Moscow

At the rally in Moscow, where protesters were demanding fair elections, according to the Ovd-Info, 1373 people were detained. As for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, they say that “only 1074 people were detained.”

Other than dispersal of the rallies, police also broke into the TV studios which were broadcasting the protest.

The EU condemned the detention of civilians in Moscow. According to the statement of the Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs of EU, Maja Kocijancic, Europe calls on the Russian Federation to respect taken obligations assumed under the OSCE and other international organizations and hold elections according to them.



“Mission Accomplished!” Elizabeth Rood reaches a peak of Mount Kazbegi

Acting US Ambassador to Georgia, Elizabeth Rood, reached the peak of mount Kazbegi (Mkinvartsveri).

As the information published by the US Embassy in Tbilisi reads, “CDA Elizabeth Rood just reached the peak of Mount Kazbegi. We want to thank everyone for their great suggestions on what to do next in Kazbegi. Keep them coming!”
