‘Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus’ project continues meetings in Georgian villages
With support from UN Women Georgia, representatives of Kakheti Regional Development Foundation conducted meetings to explain the mechanism of local self-governance, as well as the importance and opportunities, engage in local planning and budgeting processes in Tsinbani and Birkiani villages Akhmeta Municipality and in Ruispiri and Karajala villages in Telavi Municipality, reports UN Women Georgia.
The meetings emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment through civic engagement, self-help groups, and advocacy with the local government.
The Taso Foundation conducted another UN Women-supported initiative. The first meeting was held to introduce the Social Mobilization approach in Vachiani village in Akhalkalaki municipality, where the majority of the population are Armenian ethnic minorities.
The meeting was attended by 13 women, and key issues facing poor and vulnerable women were identified and discussed. Access to clean drinking water and Georgian language literacy were two key issues that women would like to solve, according to UN Women.
The method of social mobilization has been successfully applied by UN Women in Georgia since 2010 and aims at reaching out and activating women, particularly the poor and most vulnerable.
Both of the initiatives are a part of the ‘Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus’ project funded by Swiss Development Cooperation and Austrian Development Cooperation.
8 drones register in Georgia for filming sequences for Hollywood movies
Foreign operator XM2 UK LIMITED has registered eight aerial drones for aerial photo and video shooting. The devices were registered following the rules established by the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
The Agency also granted the company permission to fly in full compliance with safety standards, above the allowed height, with varying conditions.
The filming project is implemented within the program of ‘Film in Georgia’ initiative, part of the ‘Produce in Georgia’ state program, part of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. It aims to facilitate the production of films in the country by offering financial support to filmmakers.
