Tbilisi Piano Fest to take place in September

Tbilisi Piano Festival will kick off on September 1 and will be taking place for the rest of the week.

Open Air Concert will take place on September 1 at Orbeliani Square, recently reopened after renovations. The majority of other concerts will take place at the National Youth Palace.

The program of the first concert includes Giya Kancheli “Valse Boston” for Piano and Strings (1996) Johann Sebastian Bach Piano Concerto in D-Minor BWV 1052 (1738) Kristjan Jaervi “New York Songs” for Piano and String Orchestra (World Premiere). The above-mentioned program will be performed by Georgian Sinfonietta & Kristjan Jaervi, conductor | Dudana Mazmanishvili, piano | Sander Moelder, DJ.

Founded in 2008, Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra – Georgian Sinfonietta aims to deliver a diverse repertoire. The schedule of the orchestra includes performances both in Georgia and Europe, as well as regions of Georgia, where the popularization of chamber music has been a great success.

Various concerts will take place throughout the week, featuring recitals by Gabriele Leporatti, Boris Berezovsky, Gesa Luecker, etc.

Gabriele is a passionate and intellectual pianist, full of aesthetic sensibility and depth. His playing shows the influence of his teachers Maria Tipo and Fabio Bidini. Gabriele graduated "summa cum laude" from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence when aged only nineteen, before moving on to further study in the USA and Germany. Gabriele Leporatti is also a popular participant in chamber music, performing with musicians such as the Trio Suleika and Fabio Bidini, and soloists from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Duesseldorfer Symphoniker.

Born in 1969, Boris Berezovsky studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Eliso Virsaladze and privately with Alexander Satz. Engagements for the 2018–2019 seasons include performances at the Theatre des Champs-Elysee in Paris (with the Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under Yuri Temirkanov), Liszt Academy in Budapest (with the Concerto Budapest orchestra), concerts at the Moscow State Philharmonic Society and other venues.

The festival is supported by Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, ‘Georgia Europe’, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Artarea, Arttime, etc.
