Tourism facilities in Georgia trade in Rubles
According to a report by the Investigative Journalists' Union, various tourism facilities located on the Kazbegi-Pasanauri road trade in Russian Rubles.
An experiment has been conducted with two hotels, three cafes and traders and found that all of them receive a service charge in rubles. According to them, tourists have also confirmed that they are paying a ruble for the service.
According to the Law of the National Bank of Georgia, GEL is the only legal means of payment on the territory of Georgia, except for the cases defined by the Free Industrial Zones, Free Trade Points and/or National Bank. In case of violation, a physical person will be fined with GEL 200 and a legal entity with a fine of GEL 400.
After the fact was reported, the information was forwarded to the Revenue Service Monitoring Service.
Fake News on behalf of Government of Georgia
On August 19, fake news was sent to media by so-called “Government of Georgia”.
Media outlets were emailed about the concept of environmental reform, from sakargelo.gov@gmail.com.
The five-page mail-in document said to be attached by the Georgian government, says that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is being abolished. Besides, “hunting, industrial fishing, timber mining, construction of hydropower plants are prohibited on the territory of Georgia. Also, protected areas will be secured by the Ministry of Defense. Care for the environment, care for pets, care for the safe use of agricultural land will be entrusted to the directly elected environmentalist.
So-called Fake News was soon disseminated by several media outlets. The content of the document caused outrage to the public.
The title page of the document also contains the coat of arms of Georgia. If the lions depicted on Georgia's coat of arms are standing, the lions are lying down on the coat of arms of the August 19 document. St. George's image is also very different.
Foreign Minister Spokesperson on Georgian citizens detained near Akhalubani
Foreign Minister Spokesperson Vladimer Konstantinid stated that they are working with all actors who can influence these processes on a 24-hour basis to timely take appropriate action on the occupation regime and detained citizens.
He also spoke about the abduction of eight Georgian citizens by the occupation regime. All of the eight Georgian citizens, who were illegally detained on August 17 and 18, have been taken to Tskhinvali jail. According to their relatives, the so-called trial was supposed to take place in Tskhinvali on Tuesday, but they are unable to obtain specific information.
“We know that the occupation regime says that they are going to hold a so-called trial in this regard. We will talk about all these events in the near future during the meetings, including the illegal process of borderisation, both within the frames of the incident mechanism and in the next round of the Geneva talks, and this issue will be raised very strongly once again,” he said.
