Telavi International Music Festival

Telavi International Music Festival will take place on September 21-29.

The festival is presented by the Classical Music Center with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

The audience will have a chance to listen to famous pianist Eliso Virsaladze, as well as international competition laureates Jan Chakmur and Nikoloz Namoradze, renowned violinists Kolja Blacher and Fumiaki Miura, International Violin Competition Laureate, one of the most prominent young violinists Alexander Buzlov, David Oistrakh String Quartet and Gori Women Chamber Choir.

The festival's orchestra, which will include musicians from the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theater Orchestra and invited musicians from abroad, together with Ariel Zuckermann, the festival's principal conductor, will be accompanied by the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Georgian Sinfonietta." And, as always, master classes for students will be offered within the frames of the festival.

Ariel Zuckermann is an Israeli conductor, since 2015 director and conductor of the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He is one of the most sought-after conductors of the younger generation. He studied conducting with the legendary Jorma Panula at the Royal Music Academy of Stockholm and later with Bruno Weil at Munich’s Musikhochschule, where he graduated in May 2004. In January 2007 he was appointed Music Director of the renowned Georgian Chamber Orchestra.

Founded in 2008, Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra – Georgian Sinfonietta aims to deliver most diverse repertoire at the highest artistic level. The schedule of the orchestra includes performances both in Georgia and Europe, as well as regions of Georgia, where the popularization of chamber music has been a great success.

The David Oistrakh String Quartet features four of today’s most outstanding Russian musicians, all soloists in their own right, united in their artistry and their passion for the art of quartet playing. The David Oistrakh Quartet frequently performs across Europe, Asia, South America and at many of the most recognized venues, including all of the country’s famous philharmonics halls.

On September 26, Eliso Virsaladze and the David Oistrakh Quartet will perform together.

At the request of audience, bus service will be additionally provided for 29 September concert – Festival closure (Tbilisi-Telavi-Tbilisi).
