Bread Festival to take place in Georgia in October

On October 12-13, the National Botanical Garden of Georgia will host the Bread Festival, which is taking place for the second time.
Within the framework of the event, bread producing companies operating in Georgia will be able to present their products.
It is noteworthy that the people attending the festival will have a chance to see a theatrical representation of old bread baking traditions at the Event Square of the National Botanical Garden of Georgia.
“A cognitive illustration of the spread of endemic Georgian wheat species will also be presented.
The event will feature old historical photos showing interesting facts about bread. At the Bread Festival you will find bread tasting, live music, band, raffles, and entertainment activities,” reads the description of the event.
Georgia is famous for its traditional bread baked in a deep circular clay oven called Tone. Traditional bread, especially the long pointed bread called Shotis Puri, is very popular and usually served with every meal.
Apart from local bakeries, some various pastries and cafes bake their own bread, including Entree, Puri Guliani and others.
The Festival is supported by Tbilisi City Hall and by the Viands of Georgian Genetics "Gemovani". The label, that brings together only Georgian genetic food. The partners of the festival ‘’ Association of Georgian Wheat Producers’’ and ‘’Wizardevents’’.
The main goal of Georgian Wheat Producer Association is to save Georgian wheat, improve the quality and popularize it in the country. One of the founders of the association is a co-founder of Georgian wheat bread “Mzetamze”.
“Mzetamze” bread is made of Georgian endemic wheat flour, using Georgian traditional method.
