Angi Khutsishvili, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration was questioned at the General Prosecutor’s Office, Khutsishvili made no comments after the questioning with the media.

Angi Khutsishvili was questioned at General Prosecutor’s Office regarding the case of the pardoning of prisoners. The General Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the pardoning of convicts by President Salome Zourabichvili on September 20.

According to the agency, the investigation was launched into alleged abuse of power in the pardoning procedure. “The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the alleged abuse of power in the process of the pardoning of convicts – Ramaz Devadze, Aslan Bezhanidze, Zurab Nadiradze and others,” stated the agency.



The National Bank of Georgia to sell $ 40 million at foreign exchange auction

The National Bank of Georgia has released a statement announcing that it will sell $ 40 million at a foreign exchange auction today.

According to the NBG, this monetary intervention is intended to enhance the impact of the tightened monetary policy.

“The current level of nominal effective exchange rates still creates significant inflationary pressure. To neutralize this, the National Bank of Georgia raised the refinancing rate by 0.5 percentage points on September 25. The National Bank will sell $ 40 million at the foreign exchange auction on September 27, to enhance the impact of the tightened monetary policy. The National Bank will consistently use its instruments to maintain price stability,” reads the statement.
