There are high mountains of the Caucasus, subtropical areas and the Black Sea coast, as well as natural landscapes, both at the seaside and high mountains, deserts, and vineyards, forests, and glaciers. Georgia is full of national parks and sanctuaries. The largest of them is Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park covering 1% of the whole territory of the country.

The first place (the winner) will be announced by the jury consisting of representatives from the head office of the National Geographic and National Geographic Georgia. The prize is a voucher for 990 GEL for buying photographic equipment.

The second place will be selected by American art-editors. The prize for second place is 890 voucher for the photographic equipment as well. Also, the winners' photos will be printed in the National Geographic Magazine of Georgia.

Out of 200 shots, only 20 were selected for the contest.

The contest was implemented with the support of National Geographic Magazine and the cooperation between Georgia and Germany (German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The biodiversity of the South Caucasus is of global importance. However, the diversity of species and the proper functioning of ecosystems are under threat. There is considerable pressure from the exploitation of natural resources by the local population, private industry and governments.

The project “Integrated Biodiversity Management, South Caucasus”, commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-funded by Austrian Development Cooperation, aims at strengthening training establishments and environmental education centers, the program is working to improve the level of awareness among the general public regarding the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services. It also supports professional exchanges between the countries in the region.

Your Shot, National Geographic's photo community aims at telling stories collaboratively through the best photography and expert curation.
