On December 2, 2019, the first ceremony of awarding qualification to the graduates of the dual vocational education programme "Viticulture-Winemaking" took place in Schuchmann Wines, Georgia, one of the training companies engaged in the dual vocation education.
Due to the introduction of the Dual Vocational Education approach, the wine sector now has professionals whose skills fully match with the private companies' needs. Essential is that the private sector was involved in the development and implementation of the VET programme, as well as supported coordination of the entire process. One of the basic principles of dual vocational education is that the learning of theory and practice takes place in two locations, a company, and a vocational school. Therefore, the full engagement of the business sector in planning, control, implementation, and quality assurance of dual vocational education measures is indispensable.
The ceremony was opened by Mr. Bakhtadze, representative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, followed by Mr. Kolesch, president of the Bayerische Landesanstalt fur Weinbau und Gartenbau, and Mr. Strittmatter, the PSD TVET SC programme deputy director Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
