Six persons detained for International online drug trafficking

Six people have been arrested on charges of illegal manufacture, purchase, possession and sale of drugs by an organized group.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, members of the organized crime group were detained based on intensive investigative activities carried out in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi by operatives of the Main Division of Combating Drug Trafficking.

“The investigation revealed that International drug trafficking organized group would use mobile application ‘Telegram’ to sell drugs in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Georgia, specifically in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi,” stated the head of Central Criminal Office Department Mamuka Chelidze stated at the briefing.

According to the investigation, persons involved in the criminal scheme were using mobile application ‘Vipole’ as a means of communication between different countries.

Mamuka Chelidze, director of the Central Criminal Police Department, said at a briefing on December 26 that an unprecedented scale of illicit manufacture, purchase and possession of narcotics in Georgia has been revealed.

Law enforcers seized up to 21 kilograms of powder and up to 10 liters liquid of alpha-PVP in search of the defendants' private and temporary residences and places they would hide drugs. The overall value of seized narcotics on the black market is 6 Million GEL.



United Opposition working on the ‘Blacklist’

The United Opposition members state that they are working on the so-called blacklist which consists of names of State leaders who are politically prosecuting opposition members and enforce illegal decisions.

‘Specific names and names will be identified, those who deceive the court, those who establish false protocols, who intentionally and deliberately use criminal proceedings against opposition parties,’ said Kakha Kojoridze, a member of the Lelo movement.
