The exhibition - My Georgian Impressions – opened on January 16, 2020 at Black & White Gallery in Tbilisi. It is the second solo personal Photographic Exhibition by Eudosia Cecilia Andoh in Georgia.
It is also her final and farewell exhibition as she is leaving Georgia this month. It presents the artist’s impressions of people, events and places in Tbilisi, and other regions of Georgia.
Eudosia Cecilia Andoh, originally from Ghana, is an amateur photographer based in Georgia for the past five years. She has been fascinated by Tbilisi and its inhabitants since she relocated from Southern Africa to Georgia as the Fiscal Agent Manager for the Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia.
In early 2018, she took lessons with Georgian Photographer Yuri Mechitov.
As she got more into photography with Mechitov, she wanted to gain a broader understanding of all aspects of photography. She noted that it’s been “an extremely rewarding and fulfilling two-year journey” with Mechitov, highlighting that her work exhibited is a direct testament to his mentorship and guidance.
She explores all photographic genres with a focus on people, street photography, portraiture, travel photography, still life and nature. She traveled within Georgia, photographing and exploring historical and cultural treasures, as well as landscapes.
“You never know what you are going to get during your exploration of Tbilisi or the regions of Georgia.
It could be a beautifully preserved house with painted hallways, an amazing Ezo with bicycles tied to the balcony, people going about their daily affairs, varied statues and monuments celebrating the achievements of Georgians, a Georgian Supra, students at school, a crisscrossed wooden staircase, a vineyard full of grapes waiting to be harvested, Georgian traditional dancers in full flight, Polyphonic singers belting out beautiful haunting music, ancient fortresses and fortress walls, snow-capped mountains with skiers or the black stones on the shores of the Black sea.
That encapsulates my impressions of Georgia. There is so much to see and photograph but first as Yuri told me, I had to learn to “see”, not just aim and shoot,” said Eudosia.
