Georgia's Civil Aviation Agency has granted Austrian company Wucher Helicopter GmbH the right to carry out flights in Georgian mountainous resorts.
Wucher Helicopter GmbH has been carrying out flights to Gudauri, Mestia and Goderdzi ski resorts from January 15 to April 15 with three AS 350 B3 Ecureuil modern helicopters.
The flights started operating at Goderdzi ski resort on January 18. The flights will serve heli-skiing tours, delivering tourist groups of skiers and snowboarders to snowy, off-track mountain areas.
Wucher Helicopter GmbH is not the only foreign helicopter company to start flights to the alpine resorts. Since 2018, a German HTM Helicopter Travel Munich GmbH has been carrying out trips to the ski resorts.
Wucher Helicopter has a maintenance service for its own and foreign machines. Its maintenance is proofed and certified to EASA-Norm:
AT.145.055 and ensures the absolute technical reliability of all aircrafts.
It is noteworthy that there are several companies that offer heli-ski tours at the Georgian resorts Gudauri, Goderdzi, Hatsvali, and Tetnuldi. The majority of landing points are located at an altitude of 3000+ meters.
The Georgia Aviation Authority provides assistance to state aircraft and aviation operations, ensuring the safety of people traveling by air and aviation property.
Georgian mountains have become a popular tourist attraction for the past several years.
advantour.com writes that the mountains in Georgia are unique because of the Caucasus Mountains and the ridges that keep the harsh arctic cyclones away from the country. Even though Georgia is home to the highest peak in Europe (Mount Elbrus), November to May is relatively mild, with a pleasant wind coming from the Black Sea. Snow falls regularly, though severe frosts are rare.
The most well-known ski resorts in Georgia are Bakuriani and Gudauri. Gudauri is famous for its soft snow, long runs, and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Bakuriani has always been known as the winter sports training center for athletes.
