Irakli Kobakhidze on 2020 Parliamentary Elections

Former Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze said the Georgian Dream should at least replicate the results of the 2016 elections in 2020.

"The current situation allows us to prove that the Georgian Dream will win in this election as well. In 2016, every second voter voted for us and at least we should repeat the same result in this election as well. This is our task," noted Kobakhidze.

According to him, the ruling party will be nominating new team for this year's parliamentary elections, but denied to specify names:

"Naturally, renewal of the team is a constant priority and the team must be renewed at every election. It is done by every party that thinks about its progress. You remember that in 2016 we had an upgrade, unlike the opposition, and that was one of the basis of our success."

In the 2016 parliamentary elections, the Georgian Dream won 48.7 percent. Kobakhidze spoke about the repetition of the ruling party's results when the Georgian Dream's ratings dropped to the overall rating of the opposition.

According to the agency, the restriction on entry into Abkhazia will apply to persons who do not hold so-called Abkhazian citizenship.
