The Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri visited the surrounding villages of the occupation line. The Minister visited Shida Kartli as well as Gori checkpoints, where he learned about the human and material resources used to manage the situation effectively. As the minister told the press, patrolling is strengthened and the situation remains stable.
Gomelauri discussed the issue of disobeying the curfew (activated on March 31st ) restrictions. Even though expectations had been much higher, only 17 people were reported to have violated the curfew rules throughout the country. Overall, up to 350 individuals and 10-15 factories have been fined due to violating emergency regime rules.
The minister commented on controlling borders of the regions in the country.
“Almost every entrance of every region’s main city is under control. In case we see the necessity of closing borders, we will close them down immediately, just as we did in the cases of Marneuli and Bolnisi.”
Gomelauri stated that the government and the Church have not yet agreed on a specific agenda for Easter celebrations; however, ‘they work in coordination with each other.’
