Number of Coronavirus cases rise in Georgia, first two deaths are reported

Over the weekend, two deaths of people infected by the novel Coronavirus was reported in Georgia. According to the official information, the first person to die of the Coronavirus in Georgia was a 79-year-old patient, and she was from eastern Georgian region of Bolnisi.
Lali Turdzeladze, Clinical Director of the First University Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University, described the condition of the person who died of the Coronavirus in detail with reporters. Turdzeladze reported that the 79-year-old woman had Cachexia, with severe weight loss in the last 6-7 months.
“The patient had several chronic diseases- severe heart muscle disease, sepsis, septic shock, and finally developed acute cardiovascular failure, and died due to the complications caused by the Coronavirus,” said Turdzeladze.
The second death was reported in Georgia yesterday by Levan Ratiani, the director of TSMU First University Clinic. According to him, the deceased is an 81-year-old woman with concomitant diseases, which was considered as an aggravating factor. The patient was taken to a university clinic on April 3rd and her condition was assessed as incompatible with life.
According to Ratiani, the study revealed bilateral acute pneumonia, acute respiratory distress, acute sepsis, and acute myocardial infarction.
“The woman was taken from Tbilisi Sea Hospital on April 3. Her condition was assessed as critical by the recipient. The study found that the patient had bilateral acute pneumonia, acute respiratory distress, acute sepsis, a history of acute myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart failure, and arterial hypertension,” said Ratiani.
At the time of writing, the number of people infected by the virus is 170, of which, 36 recovered and two died.
As of now, there are more than 1 million and 2 hundred reported cases worldwide, out of them more than 252 thousand have recovered and more than 60,000 have died.
Most cases are reported in the USA and the virus is also spreading rapidly in Europe, with Spain and Italy being second and third most infected countries in the world.
The number of infected people in China is reported to be in decline. Most countries are preparing for the peak of the virus.
