Georgian and Ukrainian Agencies Sign Memorandum on Strategic Partnership

The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine signed a memorandum on strategic partnership and cooperation on Wednesday. The document was signed in an online format by Soso Ramishvili, the Head of the Investigation Service, and Vadim Melnik, the Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
According to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the memorandum involves bilateral cooperation between the sides in detecting, preventing, and investigating crimes committed in the financial and economic fields. Ramishvili welcomed the cooperation between the two countries and expressed hope that the partnership would continue in the future.
“I am glad that despite such a difficult situation, our agencies have not stopped communicating and we have managed to formalize the already established professional relations. I hope that our relations will continue in the future and will be fruitful for the agencies of both countries,” Ramishvili said. He also expressed his condolences to the Ukrainian families of the victims of the war, expressing his support and solidarity with Ukrainian colleagues and people.
The Ukrainian official stressed that communication, exchange of information, and attraction of foreign experience would be useful in fulfilling the main tasks of the Bureau. According to him, establishing cooperation with foreign partners is one of the priority tasks of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
“Signing a memorandum with the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia is the first important step in gaining international experience, especially in the current difficult situation and in terms of identifying new risks for the economies of both countries,” Melnik said adding that "strengthening our partnership will definitely be mutually beneficial and effective.”
As the Georgian Investigation Service said, the two officials also discussed specific areas of their activities during the online meeting to enhance future cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Ukraine.
