The German government will allocate a grant of 2,3 million EUR to Georgia in order to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

The money will be spent on re-equipment of "Rustavi Nitrogen", the largest chemical enterprise 25 km away from Tbilisi. Rustavi Azoti is the biggest producer of mineral fertilizers in the region.

"The Rustavi Nitrogen" signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in connection with which the grant was allocated.

According to the agreement, the "Rustavi Nitrogen" will finance the program with additional circa 2 million EUR. Accordingly, 4 million euros will be spent on installation of the systems, which will enable to reduce emission of nitric oxide into the atmosphere. This will ensure a state of the art facility in Georgia and help to secure about 2000 jobs at Rustavi Azoti.
