Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the National Movement, commented on the creation of an anti-corruption bureau by the Georgian Dream, within the framework of the 12 recommendations of the European Union, and said that "such an approach emphasizes the destruction of the dream once again."
Dekanoidze said that the creation of the national anti-corruption agency should be done transparently, with the involvement of the non-governmental sector, the opposition, and the international community, and "under no circumstances should it be an institution subordinate to Gharibashvili".
"A few days ago, Georgian Dream announced the creation of an anti-corruption agency and said that it will be a new bureaucratic mechanism that will be directly subordinated to the Prime Minister of Georgia, and in fact, it did not provide any definition of independence mechanisms.
According to Dekanoidze, 'Georgian Dream' is trying to carry out fake reforms and the reforms carried out by the ruling team in terms of granting the status of Georgia's candidate are just hypocrisy.
"The law and general provisions and standards presented as a façade by the Georgian Dream in Georgia is, I will remind you once again and I will repeat, the destruction of one of the 12 points, and in reality, it only provides for the Georgian Dream to carry out fake reforms. I am under no illusion that Dream will take into account the points and comments from the legislative framework developed among them by the non-governmental sector.
Therefore, accordingly, any of their false attempts to create an anti-corruption agency is only a destruction of one of the 12 points, and most importantly, it shows that the reforms carried out by DREAM in terms of granting the candidate status to Georgia are only And only hypocrisy and nothing more.
Therefore, there is no dream of creating an independent anti-corruption agency, especially the head of the agency, who will be subordinate to Gharibashvili, who, I repeat, was fired because of corruption," said Dekanoidze.
Georgian Dream is planning on creating an anti-corruption bureau. According to Anri Okhanashvili, the chairman of the legal affairs committee, "in accordance with the 12-point plan of the European Commission, in order to fulfill the 4th point of this plan, the management team initiates a package of legislative changes for the institutional strengthening of anti-corruption activities.
