Russian Occupation forces illegally detain 3 Georgian citizens

Representatives of the Russian occupation forces illegally detained three citizens of Georgia near the village of Mejvriskhevi in Gori municipality, the State Security Service of Georgia released the information.

According to the agency's explanation, upon receiving the information about the illegal detention, the State Security Service activated the "hot line" operating through the EU monitoring mission.

Information about the incident was immediately provided to the international partners and the co-chairs of the international discussions in Geneva.

According to the State Security Service, the central government of Georgia has activated all the mechanisms at its disposal to release illegally detained persons in the shortest possible time.

"The harmful practice of illegal detentions restricts the fundamental right to free movement, significantly worsens the security environment on the ground and threatens stability in the region.

"Responsibility for the destructive actions committed in the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as in the vicinity of the occupation line, rests with the occupying power," State Security Service of Georgia writes.
