Georgian Citizens in Sudan Relocated to Secure Location for Evacuation Purposes, MFA Says

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has reported that Georgian citizens in Sudan have been relocated from the vicinity of Khartoum airport to a more secure location, where preparations for their evacuation are being made.

The agency has acknowledged the challenging circumstances on the ground, and cannot currently specify the timing of the Georgian citizens' evacuation due to the unpredictable and volatile situation in the area.

"With the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the employing company, it was possible to transfer the citizens of Georgia to a safe place from the hot spot, where constant clashes are taking place. Currently, citizens are in a safe part of the city. The agency continues to work for their complete evacuation from Sudan," the Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry is maintaining regular communication with the Georgian citizens in Sudan.

The conflict in Sudan between the national army and the fighters of the "Rapid Support Forces" has been ongoing since April 15th.
