A Georgian parliamentary delegation is set to depart for Washington, D.C., on March 2, marking a significant effort to stabilize and renew diplomatic ties with the United States. The delegation includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Georgian Dream Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, along with lawmakers Mariam Lashkhi and Lika Shartava.

During the visit, the group is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with members of the U.S. Congress and representatives of the executive branch.

"We will travel to the United States of America, where we will have meetings with representatives of both Congress and the executive branch," Samkharadze told the Public Broadcaster.

A key component of the trip is the delegation's participation in the Alliance of Sovereign States conference. Samkharadze noted that the visit also provides a platform to engage with American policy experts.

"We will have the opportunity to hold discussions at think tanks about Georgia-US relations," he said.

The primary objective of the mission, according to Samkharadze, is to repair the strategic partnership between the two nations, which has faced recent challenges.

"The main task is to reset relations and not only restore strategic partnership, but also to imbue them with more content than before," Samkharadze stated. "We will do our best, we will try to hold discussions on this topic."

While acknowledging the complexity of the current diplomatic environment, the committee chairman expressed optimism that the face-to-face meetings would lead to progress.
